Expert on cautious approach to treatment of gender confused youth gets mixed reception by Australian medical profession

The Toyal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) cancelled an education webinar scheduled for March 2026, which they had previously organised to be given by an international expert on ‘gender medicine’. The expert, Prof Kaltialla from Finland, has changed her mind and no  longer advocates for gender affirmation, instead advocating for a cautious approach that safeguards and treats the whole child. A dissident group of psychiatrists, the NAPP, stepped in quickly and offered her the webinar space to speak to their members. CoAL hopes that this heralds the decline of the hol dthat the gender affirmation model has had in Australia.
