Feminist framework

CoAL is a feminist organisation that uses a radical feminist framework.

We define radical feminism as a theory based on a structural analysis of patriarchy that challenges racism, capitalism as well as misogyny as structural oppressions. Radical feminists are critical of the sex industry, including pornography, prostitution and stripping as industries; radical feminists argue against surrogacy as a misogynist industry which uses the bodies of women for profit; radical feminists are critical of the transgender industry which denies the sex-class of women and replaces it with a ‘feeling’ based on sex stereotypes; radical feminists support the development of women’s culture and the recognition of women’s spaces for women.

All these feminist concerns are highly relevant to lesbians, as lesbians have been and are being oppressed by the sex industry; we are being targeted for exploitation by surrogacy agencies; our lesbian sexuality, culture and spaces are under attack by gender ideologues.

CoAL resists all such patriarchal oppressions that harness racism, capitalism and misogyny against lesbians–against our rights, our bodies, our minds, our cultures.
